Lake County Animal Services is hosting the 'Cat and Dog Days of Summer Sale' through July 26 with steep discounts on all adoptable animals on a first-come, first-served basis for a limited time only.
'To help reduce the population at the now overcrowded shelter and avoid the euthanasia of adoptable animals, the county is offering dogs and cats at a drastically reduced rate of $10, down from $50 and $40 respectively,' said Brian Sheahan, director of Lake County's Community Safety & Compliance Department. 'Several dogs will be secretly labeled 'Gold Ribbon Dogs', which will be free of charge upon check-out.'
In addition, cats will be offered as buy-one-get-one-free for the period, as the shelter remains heavily inundated with kittens during the height of kitten season.
A maximum of three dogs and three cats may be adopted per household.
The shelter, located at 28123 County Road 561, Tavares, is open from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call 352-343-9688 for more info. And remember, volunteers and foster families are always greatly needed. That's a great way to help if you have a full house or cannot have a pet.
And for information on the county's spay/neuter rebate program, and to download an application, log on to http://ift.tt/1kTMR3x. You may be eligible to receive some reimbursement for spaying/neutering your pet, and that's the way to stop homeless animals!
