Beginning with the fall shows in February, attending New York Fashion Week could potentially become a little less overwhelming.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America has teamed up with Fashion Calendar, an authoritative fashion and beauty events guide, to improve the Big Apple's bi-annual fashion spectacle.

The CFDA has announced that it will work with Ruth Finley, who currently keeps the calendar, to take an active role in planning the shows that take place during New York Fashion Week in an effort to improve the experience of the runway shows, beginning with those that are scheduled for February of next year.

'Over the past couple of seasons, we have been involved in supporting and helping Fashion Calendar around the schedule,' CFDA chief executive officer Steven Kolb told WWD.

'Fashion Calendar is legendary, Ruth is iconic. When Diane [ von Fürstenberg] and I both started at the CFDA, we just felt that given our role and knowledge of designers, we could just be advisers and it would potentially make for a better schedule. This is an evolution of what we have been doing, but in a more public, formal way.'

With the countless designers showing throughout the course of more than a week in various locations throughout the city, New York Fashion Week can be a difficult event to organize.

Thanks to increased technology from the CFDA, it is said that the calendar will become more readily available to members of the organization and the press. Requests from designers will also be considered by the CFDA and Fashion Calendar in an attempt to avoid scheduling major shows at the same time.

'Fashion week is complex,' Kolb added.

'It's eight days, maybe nine, if you count the Wednesday before. The more people that can help navigate this, the better the experience, both on the front end in the scheduling so there is some rhyme and reason to the very full calendar, but also, equally as important, for the users of fashion week.'
