Get in the holiday spirit with many of these great pet events

Join Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control for their Happy Howliday Boutique on Saturday and Sunday at CACC.


If you're not in the Holiday spirit just yet, check out this great list of holiday pet events supporting pet rescue in Chicago this week. There are so many opportunities for photos with Santa Paws (or Claws or Claus) that you need a Reindeer to catch them all. There are also still plenty of opportunities to shop for cool items and also check out some other special events.


Monday, December 9

Burbank - Skip cooking this evening while supporting the awesome cats and dogs rescued by Lulu's Locker Rescue at the same time. Bring this coupon to Chuck's at 6501 West 79th Street. Then for all orders - dine-in, carry-out, delivery and parties - 15 percent of your order will be donated to the rescue.


Chicago - Kick the week off right by stopping by Hamburger Mary's for another edition of HamBingo from 8 to 10 p.m at 5400 North Clark Street. For a $15 donation, you get a collection of bingo cards to start and enjoy the most rip-roaringest game of bingo you've ever played. Drink specials on tap and more for Tree House Humane Society.


Tuesday, December 10

Arlington Heights - An awesome way to support pet rescues is with the many photos with Santa events. Roto Subaru at 1555 East Rand Road will host a Furry Foto Pet Event from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. This is one of many free portrait sessions for you and/or your pet with Santa offered in conjunction with The Mix 101.9 FM and Subaru. Photos are being taken our friends at Fetch Portraits, founders of the Pose A Pet app.


Chicago - Join the Chicago French Bulldog Rescue at Bar Bar Black Sheep in Bucktown from 5 to 7 for a benefit supporting the rescue. There will be some 1/2 price appetizers, $3 Chang Lager Bottles and a featured cocktail called the 'Dog Park'. $1 of each cocktail goes to the rescue.


Wednesday, December 11 and Thursday, December 12

Chicago - BMO Harris Bank at 111 West Monroe is hosting a Holiday Bazaar from 11 to 2 p.m. Lots of great holiday gifts at this celebration to support local non-profits. The Anti-Cruelty Society will be there to sell merchandise including pet toys, holiday cards and more.


Thursday, December 12

Joliet - Bill Jacobs Subaru at 2525 West Jefferson will be hosting one of the Subaru Furry Foto Pet Event (see details above) 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.


Friday, December 13 through Sunday, December 15

Skokie - Throughout the weekend, this great pet event will get you into the spirit of the season. Get into the spirit of the season with A Swinging Christmas at the Gorilla Tango Theater at 7924 Lincoln Ave. with Phoenix Rising. This is a fun show reminiscent of the Big Band era and will benefit Tree House Humane Society. Fridays and Saturday's show are at 8 p.m. and includes some adult content (Tickets are $15). A family show will be Sunday at 2 for $10 a person. Tickets are online.


Friday, December 13

Mundelein - K-9 Playtime Inc at 403 Washington is hosting a Pictures with Santa event for Placing Paws Rescue from 4 to 7 p.m. Your $15 donation will benefit the rescue.


Highland Park - Muller Subaru at 1350 Park Avenue West will be hosting one of the Subaru Furry Foto Pet Event (see details above) 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.


Saturday, December 14 and Sunday, December 15

Chicago - Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control (FCACC) are hosting a great pet event the Happy Howlidays Boutique featuring high fashion dog and cat accessories and lots of great pet toys. The boutique will be located at Chicago Animal Care and Control, 2741 S. Western Avenue from noon until 5 both days. There will be photos with Santa until 3 on Saturday & Sunday and fellow ChicagoNow Blogger and pet expert Steve Dale will be there from noon until 2 on Saturday.


Chicago - Found Chicago is going to be the recipient of the 15th Annual Bucktown Holiday Artshow's silent auction! Held at Holstein Park Field Housefrom noon to 5pm at the Bucktown Holiday Artshow is full of one-of-a-kind gifts and original works of art. More than 100 artists participate using all kinds of media so you are sure to find the perfect holiday gift for that someone special.


Saturday, December 14

Tinley Park - International Subaru at 8031 West 159 th Street will be hosting one of the Subaru Furry Foto Pet Event (see details above) from 10 a.m. until noon.


Naperville - Ring in the season and celebrate all the great adoptions at Dog Patch Pet and Feed at 1108 East Ogden at the adoption reunion party from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Bring your pet by for a reunion and even if you've not adopted...stop by and thank Dog Patch for going Humane. Meet Bernie Berlin from A Place to Bark who has worked closely with Dog Patch as he approaches 400 dog adoptions this year.


Arlington Heights - Bentley's Corner Barkery at 90 South Evergreen in Arlington Heights will host a photos with Santa Paws for Young at Heart Pet Rescue from 10 am until 3 pm. The $15 sitting fee includes one photo while you wait and a digital download.


Vernon Hills - Another fun pet event will be atKriser's at 1640 North Milwaukee Avenue will host Pictures with Santa from noon until 3 p.m. Your $15 donation benefits the Placing Paws Rescue.


Frankfort - Get into the spirit of the season at a wine tasting to benefit Lulu's Locker and Triple R Pets at the WineSytles at 20214 South LaGrange Road from 1 to 4 p.m. Tickets are $25 per person


Countryside - Autobarn Subaru at 6191 Joliet Road will be hosting one of the Subaru Furry Foto Pet Event (see details above) from 2 to 4.


Chicago - This has been one of my favorite pet events for a long time. Tree House Humane Society is hosting their annual Lights of Love event at their Uptown branch at 1212 West Carmen Street. It's the organization's biggest fundraiser that includes a holiday bazaar, bake sale, shelter tours, food, entertainment and a lighting ceremony in honor and memory of those lost. Admission is a suggested donation of just $5 (or a bag of food for the pantry) and the event is from 4 to 8 p.m. with the lighting at 6 p.m. Donate in honor or memory of your pet here.


Chicago - A great way to unwind after a day of shopping...the Happy Howlidays Celebration for A Dog's Day Rescue at Mahoney's at 551 North Ogden from 6 to 9 p.m. For a $25 donation, you get a wristband for three hours of drinking select beer, drinks, wine and appetizers. There will be raffles and so much more.


Sunday, December 15

Schaumburg - Bentley's Corner Barkery at 691 East Golf Road in Schaumburg will host a photos with Santa Paws for Young at Heart Pet Rescue from 11 am until 3 pm. The $15 sitting fee includes one photo while you wait and a digital download.


Chicago - It's not officially the holidays until you've hit the Ugly Sweater Holiday Party at Chicago Party Animals at 1133 West Fulton Market from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. It's just $5 per person and dogs are free. Big dogs have the floor from 11 to 1 p.m. and the little dogs take center stage from 1 to 3 p.m. There will be lots of great vendors, cash bar and Chicago's Canine Concierge will crown the best human/canine ugly sweater combo. Another one of my favorite pet events each season. Do note - the Bears game will be on so you won't miss any of the action.


Chicago - Take a moment to relax with some Yoga while benefitting the kitties at Tree House Humane Society. For a suggested donation of $15, you can take a Yoga Class at Yoga Tree at 5238 North Clark Street from 6 to 7:15. Sign up at the event.
