There are many fun events to get you in the holiday spirit this week.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas - and - animal rescue is no exception. There are all kinds of fun events this week to get you in the Christmas spirit - from cool craft fairs and bazaars to a Jazz Nativity to several great parties and the ever popular photos with Santa. So grab your pup and your kitty and get set to have some holiday fun for the animals.

Sunday, December 1
Chicago - This is a yummy way to help the animals. Famous Fido Rescue is holding an old fashioned Holiday Bake Sale and pet photo event to help raise funds for their veterinary fund. The event will be at Unity Lutheran Church at 1212 West Balmoral from 1 to 4 p.m. Pet photos will be taken by Petraits Pet Photography for a $25 donation.
Monday, December 2
Burbank - Take the night off cooking and help the pets rescued by Lulu's Locker Rescue at the same time. Bring this coupon to Chuck's at 6501 West 79th Street and 15 percent of your order will be donated to the rescue - dine-in, delivery, take-out and parties.

Chicago - Here's another great way to get into the Christmas spirit - Check out some of the unique shops in Bucktown/Wicker Park for holiday shopping and help raise money for Tree House Humane Society at the same time. Look for participating Shop for Good businesses. Shop for holiday gifts. Ask for a duplicate receipt and write - Tree House Humane Society on the receipt before dropping in the Shop for Good receipt box and they'll get 10 percent of the proceeds.

Oak Park - This is the grand-doggy of all pet holiday bazaars - the 28th Annual Holiday Bazaar for the Animal Care League at 6930 Roosevelt Road. This is the must go to shopping even for pet lovers. There are great gifts - a little of something for all - a bake sale and photos with Santa. Friday's event is from 3 to 9 p.m. and Saturday is 9 to 3 with photos with Santa from 10 to 2. Enjoy some Christmas spirit by unwinding after Saturdays event at the First Annual Night Lights event at the 2nd Chance shop at 808 Harrison from 7 to 9. Shop at the store and unwind with hot cocoa and music and other fun activities.

Naperville - More shopping fun with lots of hand-crafted items, jewelry, scarves and more at the Naperville Humane Society's 3rd Annual Bazaar and Open House. The event will be at the shelter at 1620 West Diehl Road from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and noon until 3 on Sunday.
Friday, December 6
Chicago - Eat, Drink and Shop until you drop at Late Night Andersonville from 6 to 10 p.m. and stop by Tree House for Holiday Meows. There will be great shopping and dining deals in the neighborhood. Visit Tree House in uptown for tours, treats and drinks, shelter tours and reduced adoption rates of $50 help decorate for Lights of Love.
Chicago - Help One Tail at a Time celebrate their successes of 2013 while they start to raise funds for an exciting 2014 at the Houndstooth Ball at Architectural Artifacts at 4325 N. Ravenswood from 7 to 11 p.m. Great food, open bar with craft beers and special cocktails and the best dressed dogs of Chicago. Single tickets are $60 and $25 for your dog. Chicago - The best way to get into the Christmas spirit is if you have some help. If you've finished your shopping and are just trying to figure out when to wrap it all, stop by Barnes & Noble at Webster Place from 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Elves from The Anti-Cruelty Society will be on hand to wrap your purchases with a donation for the animals.
Orland Park - Kriser's opens it's 12th Chicago-area store in Orland Park today and there will be lots of fun activities throughout the day. All pet food and supplies will be 20 percent off and there will be lots of other specials and fun activities. Make sure you stop by and vote for your favorite local rescue. The top three vote getters will be receiving all kinds of great products from Kriser's. Also, stop by from noon until 4 for professional pet photographs.
Waukegan - It's time for holiday photos with Santa Paws to benefit the homeless animals in Waukegan through Waukegan Animals Getting Saved (WAGS) from noon until 6 p.m. Photos will be take at the Karcher Artspace Lofts at 406 Washington. This is part of the 1st Annual Karcher Kinder Fest that features work from local artisans (and kids crafting activities).
Chicago - Stop by the Kriser's at 356 East Ohio in Chicago from noon until 2 for an adoption event for Lulu's Locker Rescue. Check out the adorable cats and pups looking for homes.
Skokie - Evanston Skokie will be hosting their Share the Love event with and Adopt-A-Thon Even with animals from C.A.R.E. from noon until 3 and Pet Photos with Santa from 2 to 4. Have your pet's photo taken with Santa for free and receive a high-resolution image suitable for printing cards. Free Pizza, hot dogs and Subaru will donate $250 to C.A.R.E. (or one of five other charities) if you purchase a new car through January 2.
Chicago - CARF will hold it's Holiday Boutique at the West Village Veterinary Center at 840 North Western from 3 to 5 p.m. Items available include pet beds, wine glasses, pottery, stockings, handmade beauty products and more. And, there will also be an adoption event for the cats and kittens at the same time.
Chicago - Get in the spirit of the season at the Pet-friendly Jazz Nativity at St. Luke's Church at 1500 West Belmont from 4 to 7 p.m. Come for a few hours of music and merriment and shopt the holiday shop and meet some of the great pets from The Anti-Cruelty Society that will be looking for homes. There will be a pet blessing at 3:30 prior to the 4 p.m. performance.
Rolling Meadows - Support the work of Almost Home Foundation at the Little Paws, Big Hearts Gala at the Meadows Club starting at 5 p.m. Tickets are $65 in advance and $80 at the door and this event is for people only.
Chicago - Get into the Christmas spirit by Toasting the season at Merry Mugs for Mutts - a great party to benefit the senior cats and dogs rescued by Young at Heart Pet Rescue. The party will be at the event space at Stay. A Modern Dog Hotel at 4108 North Rockwell from 7 to 11 p.m. Come for music, fun, some nibblers and an Ugly Sweater contest. Tickets are $45 online at $60 at the door.
Sunday, December 8
Chicago - One Tail at a Time hosts and adoption and awareness event at 4 Legs at 3809 North Clark from noon until 3. Meet the adoptable dogs and shop with 10 % of the proceeds today supporting the rescue.
Chicago - Celebrate the Holiday with Party for Purrs to benefit Harmony House for Cats from 6 to 8 at Revolution Brewing at 2323 North Milwaukee. Your ticket includes 5 beers brewed on site. Early bird tickets (purchased prior to December 6) are $30 and it's $35 after that and at the door.
Chicago - Wrap up the weekend with another HamBingo at Hamburger Mary's at 5430 North Clark Street from 8 to 9:45 to support Famous Fido. The first bingo card booklet is $15 and the second is $10. Seating is a 7:30 and there will be a silent auction and Margarita specials.
