Some residents living in the 300 block on north Bonita avenue say they're scared to come out of their homes because of and aggressive dogs running loose.
Panama City Police say this two-year old pitbull, named Titan, scratched the back of an 8-year old boy's head Wednesday evening.
'The owner recognized the danger that the animal was putting the community in and made the right decision and turned it over to animal control,' said Valerie sale, Bay County PIO.
Bay County officials are holding the dog in quarantine for ten days, and then plan to euthanize it.
The owner's been fined $105.
'there was another dog on the same property that was running at large at the same time and that owner was cited for, that was the first instance where the animal was running at large,' said sale.
The owner of that dog was fined $60.
This comes after a Panama City Police officer shot and wounded two dogs on March 27th.
He says they were approaching him in an aggressive manner.
'You know, we get literally thousands of calls to animal control every year so it's been an ongoing problem. The most important thing people can do in this community is to spay and neuter their pets.
'His dog was in my yard and it was chasing me, but i had something in my hand, so he wouldn't come close,' said Cleo Clemans, Panama City resident.
Bay county officials say they're doing everything possible to make sure the community stays safe.
'We've made a lot of changes at animal services over the course of the last year. We've hired some additional officers, so we're almost to the point were we are fully staffed.
