Spring Denim Trend Do or Don't: Mom Jeans. Are You Into It?

The celebrity world sure is. The mom jeans trend has been slowly overtaking the nation-nay, world - in the past year and, this spring, the movement has finally reached its apex. But before we start debating the pros and cons of the '90s denim redux, let's break down the different types of mom jeans.

The impeccably chic and envelope pushing Gwyneth Paltrow caused a bit of commotion when she debuted her mom jeans on a coffee run late last year. The '90s-reminiscent faded wash is a fundamental detail of this type of denim, but the wider leg and low slung waistline differentiate Gwyneth's from the more common species of mom jeans.

This leads us to the denim that Candice Swanepoel changed into after her bombshell news conference about the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. The model's pair looked like it walked straight out of Reality Bites-the light wash, the high waist, and the tapered ankle. Since she is a VS Angel, Candice sexed up her mom jeans a bit with a belly-baring cropped sweater.

And finally, there's model Laura Love, who opted for a hybrid mom-meets-boyfriend-jeans style. The high waist and vintage-y wash are pure 'mom-ish', but the cuffed hems and roomy fit bring the boyfriend element into the mix. Consider this the Gateway Mom Jean.

So what's the verdict? Will you embrace the mom jeans trend this spring? Which look above do you like best? Let's discuss! Photos: Getty Images
