YNN Rochester: Fashion Week of Rochester Begins With 'Switch and Shop'Play now

At Wednesday's 'Switch and Shop' at the Memorial Art Gallery, anyone can trade gently used or never used pieces of clothing, purses, shoes, scarves or belts with items traded in by other participants.

Verizon Wireless sponsors the event and will accept used cell phones that will be given to The Center for Youth's homeless and street youth to help them stay connected with family, schools and community.

'I like to say that Fashion Week is one of those win-win-wins for our community, so you have a tremendous opportunity to focus on creativity and talent and glamor and glitz and you can go shopping. At the same time, you're doing this amazing thing of raising dollars, raising support for our homeless shelters,' said The Center for Youth executive director Elaine Spaull.

Fashion Week organizers hope to raise $150,000 to help manage shelter services that The Center for Youth provides to homeless youth.
