Los Angeles Fashion Week Spring 2014: Bohemian Society review

The Bohemian Society presented its Spring 2014 collection last Thursday as part of the Los Angeles Fashion Council's Grove-hosted fashion showcase.

The inspiration: Designer Victor Wilde offered a single sentence as his Spring 2014 manifesto: 'O.W.N. - Own Won Now - Live for the moment. Forget winning, you've won.'

The look: While the brand's familiar repurposed military vibe - parachute fabrics, cargo pocketed pants and the like - was still very much present, the line seems to be continuing its move away from one-off statement pieces and into the realm of more easily produced cut-and-sew garments. The spring collection, grounded in a color palette of black and white and fabrics that ranged from diaphanous and gauzy to military-grade twill, felt like the most wearable assortment from the 10-year-old label to date.

Key pieces: Body-hugging gauze dresses and thigh-grazing mixed-fabrication hoodie dresses with asymmetrical zippers that zip from right shoulder to left hip for women, gauze shirts, and voluminous drawstring trousers for men and a range of belted and fastener-festooned duster-length coats for both men and women.

The verdict: It's never a dull moment when the Wilde bunch hits the runway, and this season's show was all the more entertaining thanks to to the reactions of passers-by who happened to catch the Bohemian Society show unfold.
