YNN Rochester: Fashion Week Proceeds Help Center for YouthPlay now

Some tickets are still available for Rochester's Fashion Week that kicks off Wednesday evening at the Memorial Art Gallery. Proceeds benefit the Center for Youth that helps more than 20,000 Rochester-area teens each year.

Samantha Tollinichi, 18, got some much deserved pampering at W Salon in Pittsford; one of the salons volunteering services for Fashion Week.

Tollinichi found herself pregnant and homeless two years ago. The Center for Youth's emergency shelter and outreach programs helped her through her time of need and continue to offer support for her and her two-year-old daughter.

'They helped me with everything, school and the baby. They got me involved to become a better person. I just loved it. I feel like I was home, they treat me like family,' said Tollinichi.

The goal of Fashion Week is to raise $100,000 for the Center for Youth.

'It was a perfect fit for us and The Center for Youth is something we all admire so we are proud to be a part of helping them,' said Tom DeBlase, W Salon Director.

'Many of these young people are actually raising themselves,' said Elaine Spaull, executive director at The Center for Youth. 'Fashion Week sort of deals with both faces of Rochester; the glamor and glitz as well as those in such need.'
