He has already made his mark in London, and now Manolo Blahnik is looking to conquer New York City as well.
The famed footwear designer made his London Fashion Week debut back in September, and next month, the 71-year-old will show for the first time at New York Fashion Week.
Blahnik's decision to hold a presentation in New York comes after the success last season across the pond.
'I want to share in detail how my mind and imagination work and where I get my inspiration from,' Blahnik told WWD.
'New York is a very exciting city, and I have a special sentiment towards it since it was the first place to make my shoes available to women outside of London.'
Blahnik's London presentation was accompanied by a short film at the Covent Garden Hotel that was inspired by the music, silent movies and beauty of the turn of the 20th century.
'I wanted it to have that feeling of elegance and sophistication that that period gave to the world,' Blahnik told British Vogue.
'It's about jealousy, but mainly the cultural richness that came with that time. Everyone was extreme, which I love.'
Because Blahnik's label is based in London, some might wonder why he has decided to show in New York City instead of the city in which he and his brand live, but the designer also has a strong presence in New York thanks to his association with the New York-based TV series 'Sex and the City,' which has a main character with an addiction to Blahnik's designs.
Blahnik's presentation is scheduled to take place on February 9 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at a gallery in New York City's Chelsea neighborhood.
What do you think of Blahnik's decision to show in New York City during fashion week next month?
