Go ahead, make your cowtown couture joke.
Discussions combining 'Sacramento' and 'fashion' often generate collective eye rolls, so it's safe to assume Sacramento Fashion Week likely has some skeptics.
Maybe those skeptics are being a little too harsh. Good luck finding a city in the U.S. where people don't occasionally consider flannel pajama pants acceptable social attire.
But not every city can boast a teenage fashion blogger who's been featured in Teen Vogue.
That's Justina Sharp of Sacramento. Her blog, 'A Bent Piece of Wire,' has attracted national attention. She's one of the panelists who will participate in a discussion about fashion blogging and social media tonight at The Urban Hive.
It's just one of the events in the lineup for Sacramento Fashion Week, which began Sunday and runs through Saturday. This year's theme is fashion and technology.
Among Sacramento Fashion Week's most anticipated events: a series of fashion shows held Thursday through Saturday at the California Automobile Museum.
Thursday's show, which features local boutiques, is already sold out.
It marks a growing fashion community determined to make Sacramento a destination for style.
Maybe it's time to abandon the skepticism and see if that label fits.
