5 Fashion Week Trends You Need For Spring 2015

In the past few weeks, there have been, as there are every year, fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris. During these past few weeks, we have seen designers from all over the world present their clothing for the upcoming spring season. We saw gorgeous gowns, smart pant suits, unique footwear and everything else in between.

Every year, these four different fashion weeks all show us something different, yet they all give us some insight into what may be the next season's biggest trends. Let's take a look at some of the trends seen in this year's spring fashion weeks that we may be adding to our closets come spring.

All White Everything

We've all heard the saying, 'don't wear white after Labor Day,' which makes spring and summer the perfect time to wear it. So the all-white trend we saw on the fashion week runways these past few weeks isn't all that groundbreaking for spring, but don't count this trend out.

While you've seen all-white done time and time again, this season's fashion weeks showed us the trend in new and exciting ways.

At New York Fashion Week, many shows, such as Ralph Pucci and Jill Stuart, showcased an all-white pants suit, while we saw white lace taking center stage at the Cavalli and Oscar de la Renta shows. The white we saw on the runway had quite the range telling us that no matter what your style is, you'll find something in white that'll fit your personal style.

Designers have also proved that the key to updating this trend for spring 2015 is all in the styling. We saw a wide range of different textures, shades and layers giving the all-white trend more depth than it has had in the past. With all of these options on the runway, it is inevitable that we'll see some of them on our favorite stores' shelves come spring 2015.

Culottes

Many of you probably don't even know what culottes are, but it's a safe bet that come next spring, you'll have a pair in your closet. They were huge on all four fashion week runways. So what are culottes, you may ask?

Culottes are a style of pants that first originated in the years of the French Revolution. They are slightly longer than knee-length pants that were tight around the knees that people from the upper class used to wear.

Now in 2014, culottes have been updated a bit. Instead of the fitted knees of the culottes of years past, these pants/shorts/capris, or whatever you want to call them, are substantially larger around the knees. They are so large around the knees that they almost give you the feel and look of a skirt, rather than pants.

The idea of culottes might seem a little wacky at first, but it is my guess that these pants will be a big hit in spring 2015 thanks to the fashion weeks all over the world.

Kimono Style Trench Coats

Kimonos were a huge hit this past summer, and it seems like they are here to stay. Kind of. The kimonos of last summer were mostly waist length, flowery frocks that we wore over a t-shirt and cut-offs.

For spring 2015, kimonos are getting a bit fancier. During fashion week, designers tried out a different approach to kimonos and introduced the world to the kimono trench coat. They were seen at the Tracey Reese and Tibi shows, as well as some others. If you were a big fan of the kimono, then a kimono trench coat is a must have for your spring wardrobe.

Gingham

Plaid is big for this fall for obvious reasons. It's versatile, fashion forward and most importantly, it's comfortable. Not only is the fashion world in love with this trend, but the average shopper is too. It seems that designers picked up on this and wanted spring to have its own version of plaid: gingham.

Gingham was popular on countless runways, such as those of Joseph Altuzarra and Diane Von Furstenberg. Gingham is very similar to plaid in its versatility, but the great thing about it is the feminine touch it gives to nearly any outfit. Try it out in your own wardrobe next spring in the form of a classic button-down or be bold and wear it on a dress.

Neutrals

Neutrals will always be in style, so this trend isn't necessarily new. However, spring is typically associated with girly, light pastels, while neutrals are typically worn in the colder months. So the amount of khaki, olive green and camel we saw walking down runways of all four fashion weeks is definitely cause for notice.

The great thing about this particular trend is that because neutrals are so popular in the fall and winter, you can buy things that you can wear now and in the spring! Who doesn't love an extra bang for your buck? This trend is definitely worth investing in for the spring 2015 season.

All of these trends were seen on countless runways across the world at this year's slew of fashion weeks. As we do every year, we got a glimpse into the upcoming chic trends that we will probably see in stores come springtime.

So take note of them and be sure to add them to your spring wardrobe!
