ALWAYS ahead of the curve in the style stakes, Belfast Fashionweek opened with a blast last night, showcasing highly covetable looks for autumn/winter 2013 from Northern Ireland's designer boutiques at the Ulster Museum.

The first of the runway shows kicked off with a remarkable display from independently owned stores.

A packed audience was impressed with the very latest trends from autumn/winter collections including Liberty Blue, Jourdan, Blush, Cruise, Diamond Dolls, Grainne Maher Millinery and Rio/Brazil's new online boutique Mr & Mrs Stitch.

Hosted by newly-engaged Katie Larmour and Fashionweek director Cathy Martin both in ASOS, Riona Tracey and Una Rodden designs, the collections lit up the catwalk with all the hottest trends for this season. Cruise kicked off the show with a stunning range of designer outfits to die for.

My favourite was a beautiful bang on trend peacock print A-line shift dress from Almost Famous at Cruise, with metallic colours of gold, purple and pink that take 'dull' out of winter.

Blush didn't disappoint. An electric blue Seed dress with a stunning peplum teamed with a colour popping tweed pillbox hat available exclusively from Blush and blue fur stole won over the crowd.

Sweet and fun, a cute little dress from Liberty Blue with its trendy winter florals pattern and colour popping belt adding a girly element.

Strong prints are a key trend for autumn/winter and this dress rocked that look, bringing florals to this season.

Got a party to attend? Of course you do. With Christmas around the corner then this dress is for you.

The heavily embellished crystal and pearl black Forever Unique dress with its tulle net skirt from Diamond Dolls screamed 'party time'. I could see many Belfast fashionistas wearing this.

Another key piece was a gorgeous Vilagallo tartan coat from Rio/Brazil.

Tartan is popping up everywhere at the moment, but if you're not brave enough for the bold red tones this coat will be right up your street.

With pastel tones of green, pink, brown and cream it has that vintage feel but still on trend.

Not forgetting accessories, Grainne Maher showcased a fabulous selection of her autumn/winter pieces.

A standout Perspex Tara brooch pork pie style hat (left) appeared on the catwalk in red and cream, a perfect touch to your winter wardrobe.

West Coast Cooler Fashionweek continues with the massively popular High Street Heaven catwalk show.

Patrons are in for a real treat with high street winter fashion from CastleCourt, The OUTLET Banbridge, Next, Jigsaw, Mexx, Oasis, Heatons and M&S.
