Rihanna Wore a Naked Dress to the CFDA Fashion Awards (NSFW)

Don't know why Rihanna's trending on Twitter right now? It could be because she's awesome and badass and should always be trending, orrrr it could be because of her outfit at last night's CFDA awards, which left very, very little to the imagination. In an Adam Selman gown made out of 216,000 Swarovski crystals and zero slips, Rihanna was basically naked on the red carpet:

But what else would you expect from the girl who bared her breasts just for a one-off fashion week party? She had to do something major, especially since she wasn't just attending last night's event, she was picking up the prestigious Fashion Icon award. Naturally, she needed a gown that would shock everyone and get them talking, which it did:

You call that a 'noon?' Well that's just crazy.

But obviously Rihanna wanted that confusion and chatter and fixation on her outfit to happen, because she loves getting people's attention. It's her armor and source of confidence, and she revealed in her acceptance speech for the Fashion Icon award:

'Growing up I didn't have a lot of access to fashion. But as far as I could remember, fashion has always been my defense mechanism. Even as a child I remember thinking, 'She can beat me, but she cannot beat my outfit.' And to this day I mean, that is how I think about it. I can compensate for all my weaknesses with my fashion. And so really, you really can.'

Whatever you think about Rihanna's outfit, that's a pretty powerful quote, no? And now, I will leave you to contemplate it, as well as this video of her twerking:
