Winner's Circle: GFW

GRACE KELLER will have woken up as one very happy student this morning - last night she won the Graduate Fashion Week Gold award, as well as the Womenswear accolade. The Bath Spa University graduate impressed a judging line-up that included London Fashion Week regular and BFC/Vogue Fashion Fund winner Peter Pilotto with her loose, embroidered lace dresses in clashing blue, red and orange colours. Meanwhile, it was Aimee Dunn of Nottingham Trent University that took home the Menswear award for her all-black but be-beaded suiting.

Other winners on the night included Rebecca Swann, also Nottingham Trent University, for the Stuart Peters Visionary Knitwear award and Camilla Grimes of Manchester School of Art for the Creative Catwalk award.

Overall it was a strong year, its 23 rd in fact, which was suitably celebrated by moving the event to the new Truman Brewery venue in East London - fashion folk buzzing about since Saturday to plentifully satisfy the needs of the area's resident street-style photographers.

But let's turn our attention back to the catwalk, which served up a healthy dose of new names to keep an eye on, collections well edited and slickly produced. Chloe Sanders gave us a punky take on the Highland Fling; Lauren Lake discovered a pink Antarctica; Colleen Leitch combined cowboys with sequins for a sci-fi spin; and Veronica Peduzzi-Davis put Pudsey on the runway for a teddy love-in.

With showcases from Central Saint Martins and the Royal College of Art also under our graduate belt, the last remaining collection to be seen is from London College of Fashion on June 19.
