Colorado Fashion Week showcases new, emerging designers

Colorado Fashion Week founder Justice Kwesi Kwarteng and his JTA team are once again offering three nights of shows, putting local beauty and fashion talents on display


Events for the fourth annual showcase kick off Friday evening Oct. 3 with a 6 p.m. cocktail reception at CSU Denver Center Event Atrium, 475 17th St. The 8:30 p.m. show, 'Masters of Hair + Makeup Artistry' will feature Electric Chair, Boston Priest, Swagger Salon, Nik Monroe, Three Cutters on Pearl, Altitude Salon and Mandrete by DJ. Partners include Boss Vintage Clothing and Sully & Co.


The action shifts to the Four Seasons Denver Hotel, 1111 14th St., on Saturday night for a 6 p.m. runway show sponsored by Shane Co. Among the designers and retailers will be Arturo Rios, Lotti by Amy Cabrera, Stitch Boutique, Sarah Ake, Sully & Co, KatyBelle and Hillary MacMilan.


The final runway event at 7 p.m. Oct. 7 at Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret is more offbeat and is being billed as a 'Fashion Show of Exquisite Metal Undergarments,' featured artist and metalsmith Ira Sherman.


'The vision and purpose of Colorado Fashion Week is to build Colorado's international fashion industry presence,' says Kwarteng. 'Colorado Fashion Week was created to elevate Denver's brand as a city, on both the local and national level.'
