The Africa Fashion Week shows previously held in London made its debut in Nigeria at the Eko Hotel & Suites Victoria Island Lagos. The show which began with an awareness campaign on Saturday featuring live street catwalks at the Lagos Shopping popularly known as The palms Lekki.
The event took place at the Eko Hotel & Suites. It kicked off with a day show in the afternoon for young upcoming designers from Nigeria, Angola, New York and The UK, and closed with a fashion Gala that showcased established designers like Labanella, Ade Bakare, Yutees, House of Marie, to mention a few Watching these young designer gurus that showcased their collection at the show was spectacular. It made us feel that the young fashion industry in our country has become so complacent and that we were content to glorify and elevate it on a golden pedestal. Africa fashion week Nigeria certainly was a lively fun filled event.
There was so must excitement and fashion heat that we literally had fire!,The fire incident was brought about by an equipment malfunction but was quenched quickly by the universally trusty fire extinguisher. Apart from the creative pieces which were showcased, the buzz was also on the red carpet. These are faces of people who graced the occasion.
