Columbia Fashion Week is underway and continues through Saturday, giving designers and models from the Midlands and far beyond a chance to show their stuff. Thursday evening, however, was set aside for the next generation of stylish stars.

The Kids' Runway event at Paul Mitchell the School on Gervais Street starred some experienced young models and others making their debut after auditioning at an open call from Fashion Week organizers.

The featured designer for the event was Ambrosia Star Designs, a small company based in Charleston. Kids ages 4 through 18 showed off the latest in fashion trends from casual play clothes to formal wear suited for young princes and princesses.

Fashion Week organizers said the turnout for the week's events has been great so far. The third annual Columbia Fashion Week is the most ambitious yet with 21 events scheduled.

'Never before has Columbia had anything like this,' said director and founder Alicia Zeigler.

VIP tickets for the Friday and Saturday events are sold out, but general admission tickets are still available. They can be purchased at the Fashion Week website.
