It's been a year of big games, big deals and big billboards in New York. Just another year in the Big Apple, you say?
Maybe not. 2014 brought some firsts -- New York's first Super Bowl, for example. And it brought some noticeable changes to old standbys -- take the tech revolution at Fashion Week. And in a town famous for big, New York saw the installation of its biggest billboard ever this fall.
Meanwhile, people searched for jobs, masters of the universe faced insider-trading charges and shoppers flocked to new retail palaces.
People wept in remembrance of 9/11 and cheered at the return of their favorite cupcake vendor. They protested global warming, adding eccentric color to the streets of Manhattan, and stayed out of casinos, draining the prosperity from Atlantic City.
And companies flocked to New York City looking for a piece of one of the world's premier consumer and business markets. That, to be sure, is a familiar plot in the Big Apple.
New York is always busy, and always photogenic. So enjoy this photo tour of 2014.
Let's call this a supermodel power pair.
Catwalk heavyweights Naomi Campbell and Jourdan Dunn are starring in Burberry's Spring/Summer 2015 campaign, and the British beauties are bringing it. (Did you expect otherwise?)
The campaign shots show Naomi and Jourdan nuzzling up in printed trench coats (Jourdan's coat is cinched with what looks like a chic peony-hued scarf). Burberry's signature print is featured in the pint-sized handbags on each of the models' arms.
Naomi and Jourdan, while a generation apart, serve up identical pouts in the photos, which were shot by fashion photographer Mario Testino in London. (Testino, it seems, was in-demand for S/S 2015 campaigns: He's also behind the latest Stuart Weitzman ads starring a topless Gisele Bündchen).

'Naomi and Jourdan-two great British icons, two strong, beautiful women and the two perfect faces for our new campaign. It is, as always, a real privilege to work with them,' said Burberry's Creative Director Christopher Bailey in a release about the new campaign. His Spring/Summer 2015 collection features colorful trenches in different prints and fabrics.
Jourdan has been busy with number campaigns lately (not to mention that signature strut down the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show runway on Dec. 9). Naomi, meanwhile, has been hosting chic, must-go fashion parties, like the star-studded fête she put on with at the Hotel Café Royal in London after the 2014 British Fashion Awards.
The choice to have Campbell and Dunn front the latest Burberry collection together seems, well, natural: Two lovely British ladies for one classic British label.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Burberry seem to have found a winning formula; uniting the old guard with the new. Earlier this year we saw Kate Moss and Cara Delevingne as the cheeky faces of the My Burberry fragrance, now the heritage brand has brought together Naomi Campbell and Jourdan Dunn to star as the poster girls for their colourful spring/summer 2015 collection.

Though Campbell, 44, has 20 years of experience on Dunn, 24, both have been hailed as supermodels. Both London-born, they were each scouted at the tender age of 15 and saw their careers sky-rocket quickly. Dunn, who has a five year-old son, has become a key member of modelling's 'It crowd', alongside best friend Delevingne.

The pair were shot by long-time Burberry collaborator Mario Testino for the campaign, which highlights the brand's latest technicolour take on the signature trench coat.
The campaign marks Campbell's second time as the face of Burberry, the first time being in 2001 when she starred alongside friend Kate Moss, and the fourth for Dunn, who has become a favourite of the brand.
The two beauties are joined in the campaign by two British drummers, These New Puritans' George Barnett and Of Empires' George Le Page, continuing Burberry's support of young music talent. Both have previously worked with the brand before; Barnett as the face of the Burberry Brit Rhythm fragrance campaign, and Le Page as a model who opened and closed the Burberry Prorsum spring/summer 2015 menswear show in June this year.
