This Hawaiian-inspired floral Cynthia Rowley dress ($119|Belk) makes a statement with two of the season's hottest trends - florals and bold prints. The fit-and-flare silhouette balances the daring pattern with a touch of feminine charm.

Your 2014 spring style forecast is here, and Arlene Goldstein, Belk's vice president of trend merchandising and fashion direction, is predicting a storm of dazzling jewelry with an overcast of standout shoes and a down pour of must-have apparel items are sure to illicit oohs and aahs from every fashionista you meet.

'Expect clothes that speak to the times,' Goldstein said. 'Fierce femininity will be in full bloom with the perfect mix of delicate and daring. We're also anticipating a new angle on style, offering a spectrum of shape shifts. These trends will be joined by chic twists on fashion and fabrics from exotic locations, whether you travel or not.'

We may still be in the cold of winter, but spring arrives next month. So it's not a moment too soon to start sharpening your fashion skills and updating your wardrobe with these three trends, which Goldstein refers to as the Belk Style Statements.

1. Feminine charm - Goldstein characterizes this trend as being 'all about zeroing in on classy, simplistic silhouettes and [making] a statement.' Expect to see looks that are heavily adorned in beautiful lace with complimentary back interest to make sure your exit is as dramatic and elegant as your entrance. (Think Beyoncé's outfit at the Grammys.) Goldstein said floral motifs, reminiscent of botanical images, will also be major this season. It's all about 'fierce femininity,' she said.

2. Clean slate - Classic geometric patterns stay new and exciting when reinvented with a modern twist. Expect a shape shift in design aesthetic, meaning the shape of the garments will draw away from the body adding more definition and character to the overall look.Interesting synthetics will also be presented with this compilation of clothing. Accenting the garments with contemporary accessories like boxy shaped handbags (clutches, totes, satchels) that will prove to be innovative and chic.

3. Jetsetter - Even if you are not a jetsetter, you can still tap into the spirit of exploration and adventure by pairing prints and patterns in unconventional ways. I personally love this look because it's multicultural, and the coupling of hues is diversified; from watercolors to tribal looks, the jetsetter is effortlessly chic and natural. This style statement also invites animal prints to stay another year, welcoming more zebra, tortoise and snakeskin elements. The options for this spring's collections are endless.Don't be afraid to try something new and explore opportunities for an ultra-modern makeover.
