Belarus Fashion Week features Spring/Summer

The recently concluded seventh season of Belarus Fashion Week (BFW) showcased a vivid array of Spring/Summer 2014 looks from an interesting mix of young and experienced designers in the country's capital city of Minsk.

Fashion label Aiplatov Ivan took inspiration from the surface textures, traditional décors and colour ranges of the Russian cottage houses for his latest catwalk presentation. The designer featured an alluring figure enhancing collection for women that included zippered horizontal pleated pencil skirts, silk minidresses with ornamental hemlines and leopard print and paisley patterned blouses.

For men, the designer offered extremely narrow suits with thin lapels, pants with wedge-shaped insets, and T-shirts inscripted with Old Slavonic alphabets.

Alena Volkava re-interpreted the image of a lady-spy through her new range tilted Private Theme. Replete with hidden zippers and single fold capes, the graceful feminine pieces were based on soft colours like pastel blue, brown, white and gray.

Russian brand Allezye, from designer Alesya Kocheneva, glorified casual glamour through its variedly textured collection, which included thick jackets, breezy lightweight trousers, flowing dresses, white lace blouses and leopard print mini-skirts.

In addition to the style studded glitzy runway shows, the six-day-long soiree also hosted young designers' competition New Names BFW and some off-schedule fashion centric events.
