Mulberry cancels London Fashion Week show

Mulberry has cancelled its London Fashion Week show for next season.

The British fashion house will not stage a runway show at the bi-annual event in February 2014 because the brand is yet to find a replacement creative director following the departure of Emma Hill.

A spokesperson told WWD: ''Mulberry has not finalized its creative director search and will therefore exceptionally not stage a catwalk show this February.''

However, they added it would ''definitely be participating in London Fashion Week and details of this will be released in the near future.''

Head designer Emma left the brand in September after six years at its helm, after a triumphant Spring/Summer 2014 swan song in the English capital.

Erdem Moralioglu, Roland Mouret, Mary Katrantzou and Sophie Hulme are rumoured to be hot contenders to replace Emma, but a replacement has yet to be announced.

Emma told The Daily Telegraph newspaper ahead of her departure: ''I've been here almost six years - the longest I've been anywhere. In that time the company has changed hugely ... But I'm not dropping off the face of the earth.

''The market is even tougher than it was five years ago because there's far more competition. But Mulberry has got something really special. So, yes, it can [become global] - and I'll enjoy watching it grow''.
