The start of New York Fashion Week was designated men's day yesterday, featuring exclusive menswear brands, including one of my favs... Jack Spade. The stellar collection explored interactions of color and its ability, through careful application to add refinement and consistency.
The mix of sport and classic American sportswear inspired design director Todd Magill. 'I see a lot of guys on the streets mixing their sport gear with their work clothes. Ultimately, the collection is about 'urban utility' so you can look good in transitional moments, like when you are in between work and running to or from the gym and then out to meet friends.'
Apparel was on show, but the brand known for its bags and accessories were definitely on display. Artist Ian Hundley designed a special navy grid print for the capsule collection of bags and aerial maps of the streets of New York inspired many apparel pieces.
I found the presentation, modern, great tailoring and absolutely brilliantly designed as the brand moves into the future and looks to become serious competition in the world of menswear.
