Style Fashion Week LA Opening Night Day 1
Last night (March 9th 2014 ) was the opening ceremony for Style Fashion Week. The opening ceremony included an introduction from Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti who kicked off fashion week with an amazing and heartfelt speech. Garcetti has clearly stated that the City of Angels Mayors office is open for business and to help businesses in the fashion and apparel sector. Turns out Eric Garcetti's father was involved as well and he grew up enjoying the benefits of a family that ran a successful men's suit line. Among other things the Mayor has named Style Fashion Week LA the official Los Angeles Fashion Week. Veronica Kerzner (owner and co-founder of Style Fashion Week LA) received an official statement with a ceremony in the morning at city hall. The filled to capacity guests loved hearing the mayors dedication and support as well the fact that our mayor recognizes how big this industry is and how influential Los Angeles can be to the world when it comes to fashion. We especially liked his 'Watch Out New York' in reference to the current leading city in American Fashion. This was the best possible opening ceremony of any LA Fashion Week so far and we thank Eric Garcetti for that.
The two featured designers Ina Soltani and Tatyana were a great way to kick-off this week to come. Starting with Ina Soltani, where the look was an interplay of hard and soft. The color trends for this collection were a high and low contrast of blacks and whites. In this collection white leather was a centerpiece for the start of this show. For the first look below is soft but hard because of the material of the dress. The layered white dress is simple and can be worn from day to night with the right accessories. The next look is a black panel peplum strapless top and black pants to match it. This look is daring to the point that this is made for a woman who still wants to stand apart. Finally the last look of Ina Soltani is a flare dress with accents of leather trim details.
Next was Tatyana Designs with a 1940′s touch of class. This collection was a show with models smiling and great personalities on the cat walk. Betty Page was the inspiration of this collection. The length of the skirts were also influences of the time during the 1940s. The feel of this collection was a mix of prints and added details of the era but with a modern twist. The first look was a flared trench coat with colorful flower prints and a black skirt with an animal print. Afterwards, was a red dress with gold buttons. The following look is a collared shirt with a blue tie and a zebra print high-waist skirt.
