Beachwood Food, Fun and Fashion Week includes tastings, cooking demos ...

BEACHWOOD, Ohio - Taste food and wine from some of Beachwood's award-winning restaurants and take a peek at fashions available at local shops during the annual Food, Fun and Fashion Week Oct. 23-26.

This is the second year for the event hosted by the Beachwood Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The four-day event will be jam packed with beer, food and wine tastings at several Beachwood businesses. The Beachwood Historical Society will present information about the city Saturday and there will be big band music Sunday, both at the library. The Microsoft Store will host an Xbox party Saturday and the Beachwood 5K run will step off Sunday.

'The event is a great way to draw business and leisure travelers to the area,' Beachwood CVB President Patty Lampert said. 'For anybody who wants to come in for a day or the weekend, this event is designed to introduce them to the city and to show them all of the wonderful amenities in and around the city.'

Food Fun and Fashion Week will kick off at 5 p.m. Thursday at Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage, where Sean Martin, associate curator of Jewish history for the Western Reserve Historical Society in Cleveland, will present 'A 20 ^th Century Story: The Garment Industry in Northeast Ohio.' Martin will talk about the impact and legacy of the garment industry on Beachwood and the surrounding area.

Chef Kortez Wilson, from the Beachwood High School culinary program, and chefs Ky-Wai Wong and Klaus Tenbergen, both from Cuyahoga County Community College's Hospitality Management Center of Excellence, will present 'Food & Culinary Reactions 101' at 11 a.m. Saturday at Tri-C. After the chefs demonstrate some of the physical and chemical transformations of ingredients that occur in cooling and baking, the Fred Astaire Dancers will perform routines from around the globe in 'The World of Dance & Food.'
