Meet CMH Fashion Week Designer Stephanie Foster

CMH Fashion Week launches on Sunday, Oct. 12, with a High Fashion Tea and wraps up on Saturday, Oct. 18, with the 5th Annual Finale Runway Show. Ten local designers will send their looks down the runway, as will headliner Althea Harper. Here, meet designer Stephanie Foster.

Name: Stephanie Foster

Credentials: I took the Fashion & Fabrics class at Northeast Career Center. Upon high school graduation, I received a four-year scholarship to play on the women's basketball team at Florida A&M University. I also received my Bachelor of Science in broadcast journalism and became a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

My story: I began sewing in the 11 ^th grade, and it was at that time I knew I wanted my own clothing line. I also played basketball my whole life, and I met a lot of tall women like myself who had trouble finding fashionable clothing that fit correctly. I have taken my own personal woes with clothing and turned them into Prissy Duck Designs! I provide clothing for women of many shapes and sizes. It's been a long time coming, but I can finally show people what I have to offer!

Personal style: I like to stand out but not be too over the top. I don't like to try too hard, and I typically like to wear simple pieces that are well put together. I like solid colors but will add a little flair to it by my color choice. It might be a metallic, bright color or the classic black or gray, but the pieces will have just the right amount of 'look at me' to make a statement.

Style icon: Rihanna

Favorite three pieces in your closet right now: Peplum blazer, maxi dress and tea-length skirt

True style is... wearing what you want to wear and being comfortable with it. The ways you dress, act and carry yourself are all a part of your own personal style. As long as you can own it, that's all that matters!

This collection: This collection will definitely help you stand out. I'm offering a variety of designs, including shiny metallics, beautiful dresses and even some edgier, midriff-baring pieces. This collection is chic, fashionable and all about radiating femininity and confidence from the wearer.
