Fashion Week Takes a Trek

The must-see show for Fashion Week will be taking Manhattans fashion fanatics across the Brooklyn bridge, as it is Alexander Wang's show will be presented at the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Wang announced the move to Duggal Greenhouse for his February 8th show. Fashion followers are complaining about the move and the commute from the base in Lincoln Center across the East River.

Being the must-see show of Wang's debut collection - the turnoput is not expected to be poorer because of the trek.

Wang will be the first major designer to go outside the Manhattan box for Fashion Week. Wang is also considered one of the only designers with enough of a following and a pull to bring fashion watchers to the stunning Duggal Greenhouse location.

Brooklyn has become the center of identity and culture - attracting hoards of artists , musicians and is the equivelant of 1960's East Village in artistic movements.

However, it is still a foreign area to many major photographers and editors of such. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

There are some logistics with show scheduling due to this commute - this will impact a picking and choosing between major designes.

With Brooklyns edgyness, art , music , culture and abundance of young designers - Is it about time that Brooklyn shows hit the new fashion movement?

'It's only a bridge after all, ' says Fashion Week Brooklyn spokeswoman Colleen Gwen Armstrong.
