Samantha is a writer and stylist with a love for pretty details. She took her trip down the aisle in June 2013 and is now living the married life in Charlotte's South End. Samantha can be reached here.

It may be freezing outside but despite the cold, spring fashion is in the air. Yesterday I had the pleasure of attending Belk's 2014 Spring Fashion Preview with Cristina Wilson, the lovely editor of Carolina Bride. We got a chance to go through Belk's spring look book with Arlene Goldstein, Belk's VP of Fashion Direction and Trend Merchandising, and get a glimpse into next season's most stylish trends. No matter what your personal style is, there was something for everyone.

Feminine Charms

From pretty white dresses to ladylike bags, this spring you should slip into something feminine. Big, statement necklaces with floral motifs are a hot ticket item along with pearls used in unexpected ways. This spring, platforms are taking a backseat to the single sole heel. A pair of single sole heeled sandals will be perfect to pair with both jeans and dress and will take you from spring right into summer.

Clean Slate

If ultra feminine isn't your thing, don't worry. Clean lines and modern shapes are in this spring as well. We'll be seeing bold black and white looks, architectural outfit elements and futuristic textiles like lucite and nylon. One of my favorite things to do is mix modern accessories with traditional outfits. If you aren't ready to go full modern, then try mixing in a few small pieces here and there. I, for one, am in need of a chunky, lucite heel ASAP.

Jetsetter

Turns out you don't have to be an actual world traveller to look like one. Keep an eye out for exotic patterns and tribal prints this season. They've become more popular in the past few years but this go around, they are being styled with different fabrics and textures. One look we saw paired a leather jacket with a printed dress and heels. I would probably never wear a leather jacket in the spring but I'm definitely rethinking it now! Maxi dresses are another item to add to your closet. We've seen them before but find one in an exotic print, pair it with a chunky necklace and you'll instantly feel like you should be sipping on a pina colada.

Overall, I loved what I saw in the Belk Fashion Preview. The best thing about walking into a Belk store is that you can find a little bit of everything. From Lily Pulitzer to Marc Jacobs, they cater to every woman. It's one of my go to spots in SouthPark and I can't wait to go and start adding to my spring wardrobe!
