Totally minted: go green in style this spring

Joining Kane in his green crusade is Christopher Bailey, who chose a near identical shade of mint to create the jersey jackets and lace skirts in his spring catwalk collection for Burberry, and Calvin Klein, which unveiled shredded bouclé suits in its show last September. On the high street, the colour is proving popular, which is far from surprising given Kane's influence. In Zara, a tiered full-length mint dress in the shade waits patiently for those seeking easy-breezy summer wedding outfits - I'm thinking ceremony on a beach in Formentera - while Topshop has plentiful pencil skirts and bra-tops in the shade - I'm thinking dirty Dalston rave-up.

Of course, this shouldn't mean we feel duty-bound to buy up any mint article that crosses our paths - this isn't a trend that will suit every personality and skin tone - but I would suggest giving it a try, especially if the Easter weekend has left you feeling a tad lacklustre. As a general rule, I'd avoid wearing this hue from head to toe although I'd make an exception if you see the words 'Christopher' and 'Kane' printed on the label.

Team with dark neutrals - a minty sweater looks spot on with navy-blue slacks - or if you're feeling more adventurous, try wearing this sweet shade of green with pastels in opposing shades.

If you were lucky enough to escape the city for sunnier climes over the bank-holiday weekend, make mint your friend immediately. Though draining on pale complexions, the colour looks totally smoking with a suntan. Of course, for those of us who didn't make it past the four walls of their local Hackney pub, investing in a decent bronzer will also allow you to embark on this new colour adventure with confidence.

Let's get fresh.
