Flour power helps dogs at cupcake sale

The Friends of Gladstone RSPCA will be selling cupcakes at the Kin Kora markets to raise funds for the city's four-legged friends.

FLOUR power will boost the fortunes of dogs in Gladstone on Sunday.

The Friends of Gladstone RSPCA will be selling cupcakes Kin Kora markets to raise funds for the city's four-paws.

Friends spokeswoman Nicole Allison said the sale of cup cakes and other yummy treats would help the group buy 'adopt me' vests and bandanas for the group's dogs to wear while on walks and on adoption days.

She said the event would also help pay general veterinary expenses.

'We're hoping to have a few puppies there on Sunday and for carers to bring down a dog or two at a time,' she said.

Ms Allison said the Friends would be at the markets (in the Kmart undercover carpark) from 7am-noon.

'We've had at least 12 people volunteer to bake up some goodies, and will have a variety of cupcakes, as well as banana bread, carrot cake, cookies, fudge, caramel tarts, as well as gluten free and healthy options, and pet-friendly treats,' she said.

'So something to please everyone's sweet tooth and all going to a really good cause.

'Whatever we have leftover at the end of the day, we're hoping people will be able to purchase and sell at their workplace on Monday.'

While the RSPCA Cupcake Day is on Monday, staff from the Gladstone Hospital and Bendigo bank will hold their feast of flavours on Tuesday.
