Zoë Jordan's NYFW Move

IF you've been paying close enough attention to the London Fashion Week schedule, you'll notice that there's one designer missing from the line-up: Zoe Jordan. She's New York bound this season.

'London and the British Fashion Council have given me the confidence and support to get into my stride professionally,' says Jordan. So this summer she hopped across the pond for some meetings, met the team at Milk Studios, 'loved its vibe' and consequently will now be part of New York Fashion Week.

'Having lived there as a bond trader I have an understanding of the urban market in New York and their appreciation for the London look. I think the utilitarian, straight-forward approach to my collections has good synergy with the American audience,' elaborates Jordan, who launched her label back in 2011. She since went on to be shortlisted for the BFC/Vogue Designer Fund, in 2012, and became known for her melding of an androgynous and feminine aesthetic.

'It feels like the perfect challenge and a good time to take the next steps with the brand. I don't know many meaningful, successful brands without a presence in the US, so New York is the first stepping stone to achieving that ambition,' she says.

But does she plan to come back? 'Yes, for sure. Hopefully with some key US stockists under my belt I will come back a much stronger brand with a deeper understanding of the international scope of the business,' she says.

And so what can we expect to see from her this spring/summer 2015 season?

'It's a tribute to the grown-up tomboy in her urban environment with an energetic minimalism and international heritage. This season's ZJ girl is influenced by a fresh take on northern European trends and tastes. She's a travelled woman who is involved and interested in city landscapes culturally, socially and professionally.'
