Area pet briefs


WILMINGTON | Wilmington-area nonprofit, Coastal Animal Rescue Effort, is currently working toward building a new animal shelter. As part of the effort, the group will hold 'Pets rock!' at 7 p.m. March 21 at the Terrace on Sir Tyler Drive.


The event offers a sampling of culinary creations from local restaurants, live music and a silent auction. Frances Weller emcees the festivities.


Tickets are $40 per person.

SPAY-ghetti dinner

Paws-Ability will hold a SPAY-ghetti dinner 5:30-8:30 p.m. Feb. 23 at 119 Holden Beach Road in Shallote. Funds will help pay for spay and neuter of animals in Brunswick County. Contact Spay4Stray@gmail.com or 910-575-6972 for tickets, which are required. Cost is $10 and $6 for children under 10 years old.


Dog Day Afternoon

Adopt-An-Angel will hold Dog Day Afternoon at 3 p.m. March 1 at Orton Pool Room, 133 N. Front St. Funds will help pay for rescued animals' medical treatment. The event will include raffles, auctions, live music and pet adoptions.


Adoption event

Cape Fear Rescue League and Coastal Canine Rescue will hold an adoption event 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Feb. 23 at A Country Veterinary Clinic, 6841 Market St. Funds raised will help pay for rescued animals' medical treatment. The event will include refreshments, T-shirts for sale and dogs for adoption.
