Chicago pet events for the first weekend in April

This week's Chicago pet events will get you ready for the Easter Bunny. There are plenty of Easter Egg Hunts just for your dog. Also, rock out for the cats of Tree House Humane Society at Kittypalooza, check out a Vegas-style show to support puppy mill rescues and shop to help various rescues.

Friday, April 4

Chicago - Time to rock out for the cats at Tree House Humane Society at the annual Kittypaloosa at NiteCap at 5007 West Irving Park Road. Tickets are just $7 per person to see The Alder Kings, Crusader, and Saucy Boss!

Saturday, April 5 & Sunday, April 6

Joliet - The Cache Creek Animal Rescue will hold a yard and bake sale at 20654 Burl Court in Joliet from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Stop by with your donations for the yard or bake sale and then shop and help the animals and meet some of the dogs and cats needing homes.

Saturday, April 5

Chicago - Head out to Parker's Naturals Dog & Cat Market for photos with the Easter Bunny from noon until 4 p.m. Photos are $10 each with proceeds benefitting a local charity.

Elgin - Get a hands-on cooking seminar with celebrity pet chef Lisa Hennessy ( Your Pet Chef) at a back to basics cooking seminar at FYDOland at 1999 Larkin from 1 to 3. The class is just $9.95 and 25 percent of the proceeds will be donated to 2 Million Dogs - a group that raises funds for education and the fight against dog cancer.

Evanston - Stop by Rex's Place Dog Obedience Group at 2120 North Ashland for the Annual K-9 Eggstravaganza from 1 to 3 p.m. to support the rescue efforts of Red Door Animal Shelter. Each egg contains great gift certificates for people and dogs. Tickets are $10 per dog and photos with the Easter Bunny are just $5.

Rolling Meadows - Join Almost Home Foundation for the Celebrity Experience - a Vegas style show featuring celebrity impersonators at the Meadows Club starting at 6 p.m. Proceeds benefit the rescue cost accumulated from the recent rescue of 35 puppy mill dogs from Happiness is Petsl

Sunday, April 6

Oak Forest - Join Lulu's Locker for their Dog Easter Egg Hunt at the Oak Forest Community Center at 15501 S. Kilpatrick with registration at 1 p.m. Hundreds of plastic eggs containing prizes will be hidden and there will be photos with the Easter Bunny. Registration is $10 per dog. Villa Park - Check out some of the great products from local vendors at Feral Fixers Shop for Strays event at the VFW Post 2801 39 East St Charles Road in Villa Park. Admission is just $3. Along with the bazaar, there will be awesome goodies from the bake sale.

Chicago - Join Tree House Humane Society at Marty's Martini Bar at 1115 West Belmont for a Meowtini Party from 3 to 5 p.m. to benefits the cat sin their care. There will be great raffle prizes and wonderful Meowtini's.

Monday, April 7

Chicago - Famous Fido Rescue Alliance will host Pints for Pets from 5:00 until 10 at Jerry's Sandwiches located at 5419 N. Clark Street in Chicago. The event runs from 6 to 9 and features a great raffle and much more. A $30 donation is requested.
