Syracuse, N.Y. - A handful of Syracuse Crunch players put on a show much different than the ones they're used to Wednesday night at the Landmark Theatre.
Jon DiSalvatore, P.C. Labrie, Joey Mormina and J.P. Cote all strutted their stuff on the catwalk as models in Syracuse's Fashion Week. They sported athletic gear as well as formal wear.
The players got together on their own and decided to participate in the event, which raises money for charity.
'It was a good time. We tried to have a little bit of fun with it,'' DiSalvatore said.
Cote was a big hit with the way he loosened up and strutted around the runway. Labrie, too, felt comfortable in tossing out some eye candy.
'The key was having fun. We were not there to be serious,'' Labrie said. 'You don't know what you are going to do. You just improvise.''
Crunch players Drew Olson and Tanner Richard had the enviable jobs of working as runway assistants. That gave them the singular responsibility of offering their hands to models as they went up and down the runway stairs for balance.
When Cote descended one time Olson and Richard joked around by extending him their hands. Instead, they would up carrying him away on their shoulders while his legs bicycled through the air.
