'Modern Family' Covering Marriage Costs on Monday in NYC (Video)

Ahead of Mitchell and Cam's upcoming nuptials on Modern Family, the ABC sitcom is getting the wedding party started by footing the bill of couples tying the knot in New York City.

The network announced on Good Morning America that the show will cover the cost of all marriage licenses and wedding ceremonies taking place on Monday, May 12, at the New York City Clerk's office (141 Worth Street, New York, NY 10013, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. EST).

The onscreen engaged couple -- Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet -- appeared on Good Morning America to help make the announcement and tease their characters' pending ceremony, which will be the focus of the sitcom's remaining two episodes of the season. Ferguson commented that after getting married in July to Justin Mikita, planning a wedding on the show was fun: 'I've had a lot of the same people at both weddings!'

Stonestreet noted of their characters' heartwarming arcs, 'It's a rare opportunity you get as actors. You never think of that when you're out there auditioning for different parts in TV shows and not getting them, and then to finally get a gig like this that is really, truly -- not to put too much importance on it, but owning it a little bit -- having social impact, cultural impact. We hear it from kids, we hear that from parents, so we know it's real.'

The most recent episode of Modern Family had Ferguson's Mitchell confront his father, Jay ( Ed O'Neill), about being uncomfortable with his son's pending wedding. 'I actually really applaud the writers for going there with that relationship, because that's something that's very real, and a lot of parents have their own evolution with having a gay kid.'

Modern Family airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. on ABC. Watch the sneak peek of the ceremony below:
