For Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin for the upcoming spring 2015 season, the show will be moving from Brandenburg Gate to the Erika Hess Ice Rink in the Wedding neighborhood of Berlin.

IMG Fashion, owner and producer of the fashion week event, commented on the move to WWD, '[This is a] temporary move from the event's permanent home, Brandenburg Gate.'

Although it seems to be a temporary move, still, why the move?

WWD is reporting the change is due to a scheduling conflict with the fan mile being set up around the Brandenburg Gate during the soccer world championships in July. In turn, IMG had to seek out a new site for the fashion shows that will be held this year from July 8 to July 11.

Of course, change can be good as Jarrad Clark, vice president and global creative director of IMG Fashion Events & Properties, pointed out.

'The fashion industry is about change, and we love having the ability to do something different for a season.'

Change is a word the fashion industry has been using quite a lot recently in regards to fashion week venues.

Let's flashback to Alexander Wang's fall 2014 runway show where he caused quite a stir when he decided to move his show from Manhattan to Brooklyn. He hosted his show at Duggal Greenhouse at 63 Ship Ways Avenue, which is located next to the Brooklyn Navy Yard.

Additionally, for the same New York Fashion Week, Diane von Furstenberg and Michael Kors showed at Spring Studios at 50 Varick Street in New York City's TriBeCa neighborhood, and Vera Wang showed at the Dia Center for the Arts in Chelsea. These designers chose not to show at the Lincoln Center, which had become the venue synonymous with New York Fashion Week.

Then, most recently, there was Dior who showed its cruise 2015 collection at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, which saw many guests taking charted ferries across the East River pier at 35th Street to the Navy Yard.

So why did Dior venture into Brooklyn?

'We wanted the show to feel very New York, and the Navy Yard's view and space captures the city,' a spokeswoman for Dior stated to WWD.

Sounds like a good enough reason to us.

Although change can be difficult, it seems that change has been good to those that have ventured from the norm. As for Berlin Fashion Week, it may be a temporary move as of now, but like Wang venturing out to Brooklyn, which was unheard of at the time, the switching of venues may just lead to more changes down the road.
