Peruvian fashion designer Claudia Bertolero has bagged the 'International Rising Star Award 2014' for the most promising designer at the recently concluded Miami Fashion Week.

At an event in Lima, Magali Silva, Peru's Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism and President of the Board of the Commission for the Promotion of Peru for Export and Tourism (PromperĂș), congratulated the Peruvian delegation that participated in the Miami Fashion Week.

'Thanks to such events, Peru can show what it has to offer in fashion design. Peru's textile and garment exports reached US$ 1.918 billion last year, and both Promperu and the Ministry of Foreign Trade are engaged in finding new markets to offer Peruvian products to the world,' Minister Magali Silva said.

At the 16th edition of Miami Fashion Week, Claudia Bertolero was presented the 'International Rising Star Award 2014' by Beth Sobol, the fashion week organizer, and Lena Hansen, editor of People magazine (Spanish), fibre2fashion.com reported.

Minister Silva revealed that during the Show Case Peru, the Peruvian delegation showed creations that captivated the audience. There were collections made of organic cotton and crochet detailed embroidery. Designer Ana Maria Guiulfo presented summer clothes and fabrics in bright colours like fuchsia, lime green and bluish shades.

'We welcome the participation of our designers, who introduced our garments made from cotton fibre and alpaca at the show, said Minister Silva.

Miami Fashion Week is an annual event which brings together about 10,000 people from the textile, apparel and fashion industry. The event sees significant participation of designers from Spain, Italy and Argentina, in addition to the US.
