Michael Bastian's trips to Arizona to get away from his day job ended up as the inspiration behind his latest collection, a mood board that starts with the Sonoran Desert landscape and extends into the cultural touchstones of all things cooly laid back in the late '70s Southwest. Think the Eagles, Kris Kristofferson, and any other suede-loving guy of the era who wasn't afraid to accessorize his swagger with a little turquoise. Of course, it's classic rock and firey sunsets as seen through Bastian's eyes. That means the collection is loaded with elevated menswear fit for more than just iconic frontmen. Executed in washed-out denims, bold reds and oranges, and finished off with bold and beaded accessories, the looks are full of Bastian signatures like killer knits, anything but ordinary business suits, and trim trousers that borrow details from both military and motorcycle worlds. It's the quality stuff we could imagine the 'Hotel California' crew wearing today...you know, if they could check out and buy new clothes at Bergorf Goodman.
