Fashion Week 2013 Guest Blog: Ariana and the Rose Hits All the Designer ...

Ariana and the Rose, a born and bred New Yorker, sat front row and performed at Fashion Week in New York, London and Paris! You can't beat that kind of exposure, and the singer, who epitomizes downtown NYC cool with her look and her electro synth pop sound (think Lana Del Rey x Regina Spektor x LaRue), agreed to document her exploits at Fashion Week in multiple cities with PopCrush! How very cool of her, right? Pull up your runway-side seat for her recap of her experience in New York and London. Below is Ariana's written and photo recap. It's the first of two (follow-up will be Paris)!

Runway shows have always been my favorite part of fashion. The lights, the music, all the pushing and shoving to get your sear - it's as close to a live concert as you can get. So, the opportunity to attend shows in New York, London and Paris left me feeling like a kid in a candy store. Every city has its own vibe and every fashion week embodies the heart of each city. The last month has been total craziness, so I've compiled my very favorite highlights from each city, from runway shows to after party performances to purchases. Here is my Fashion Week:

New York

Charlotte Ronson presentation and after party - I've been lucky enough to attend New York Fashion Week since I was really young but getting to perform and collaborate with designers is something totally new for me. The @cjronson presentation was sheer madness. It was totally packed and the whole room was buzzing. The clothes were, naturally, adorable. I'm a real sucker for crop tops, which is definitely a Ronson specialty.

The true highlight for me was performing at the @MarqueeNY later that evening. The room was definitely in the mood to party by the time my band and I went on stage. The whole club went dark, our Ariana and the Rose logo was splashed across a two-floor background and I began singing a cappella in the dark. When the lights flipped on a moment later, the room was already moving and the dance floor just kept filling up! It was the perfect marriage of music and fashion, and everyone was there to party for fashion week.

London:

London pushes the fashion boundaries like no other city in the world. The runways were filled with everything from embellished hoop skirts to gas masks to a ballerina. It was such a change of pace from New York and so much fun.

A truly amazing moment for me was hearing my single 'Heartbeat' as the runway music for the @AshleyIsham_LDN fashion show. To see those models strut down the runway to my song was unreal, I was singing along. I couldn't even help myself. [Note: That's Ariana with Isham below.]

The best part about London Fashion week is the diversity of the designers and shows. There is a real sense of play in each of the presentations.

I was lucky enough to attend stunningly classic shows at the famous Somerset House as well as presentations that were more off-the-beaten-path.

One of my favorites was Bas Kosters epically fun show. Instead of the run-of-the-mill runway, @baskosters filled a stage with people dancing and cooking in his designs. He turned his presentation into a show and then a party - definitely not the norm. [Note: That's Ariana below in Kosters' design.]

By the end of London Fashion Week, I was full on the fashion from the runways as well as the fashion from people attending the shows. Upcoming seasons, I'm definitely going to have to bring some cranial accessories to keep up!
