São Paulo Fashion Week starts with a show on subway


The 36th edition of Latin America's pre-eminent fashion event São Paulo Fashion Week (SPFW) began with an unconventional show staged at unusual venues comprising of subway cars and escalators.


Organized at the 14-mile-long Green Line-2 extension of the Sao Paulo Subway Network (Metro), which links Vila Madalena station to Vila Prudente, the non-traditional fashion show saw nearly 40 models, clad in some memorable creations showcased in the previous editions of the bi-annual event.


More than 40 looks, ranging from spectacular to most outrageous, designed by around 15 famous Latin American names like Alexandre Herchcovitch, John Pepper, Ronaldo Fraga, Gloria Coelho and André Lima, were featured at the opening event.


The week-long fashion celebration SPFW will feature an array of latest Winter-2014 collections from several eminent and emerging designer labels, such as Rio de Janeiro-based Animale, Tufi Duek (by designer Eduardo Pombal), Fernanda Yamamoto and John Pepper.


In addition to style-studded runway shows, the soiree will also host a carpet exhibition and forums on various fashion-related topics.
