Spring racing fashion trends for 2013

PRETTY in pastels or monochrome black and white – they are the key fashion trends for this season's Spring Racing carnival, according to Myer it girl Rebecca Bramich.

The horse enthusiast and in-demand Chadwick model says there is no grey area when it comes to current race-wear staples.

'Life is never black and white, but that in no way should apply to your wardrobe,' the Myer Fashions on the Field Ambassador says.

'Spring/summer is strongly monochrome, striped, patterned and polka dots.'

Bramich says key designers for the black and white look include Jayson Brunsdon, Wayne Cooper, Sass & Bide and Manning Cartell.

If black and white isn't your speed, another key trend is florals - bold and bright prints, stripes or statement shapes to set you apart from the crowd.

'This seasons flower prints are growing wild and free,' she says.

'Pick your petal power and watch your look bloom. Key designers for this look are YB J'AIME and Fleur Wood Geometric and Cue.'

Bramich says other must-haves include digital prints and pastel colours that compliment feminine headwear.

'When it comes to millinery, if you want to make a statement this season, do it in bold stripes, polka dots or statement pieces in black and white,' she advises.

'Mix and match your dress, shoes, clutch and headpiece by colour blocking your outfit.

'Stand out in the crowd and brighten your outfit with bold reds, orange, fuschia or cobalt blue.'

Detailed floral headbands are another fresh and fun way to brighten your race look - and they are easy to wear too.

'And if you love feeling pretty and ladylike, adorn your head with hues of beautiful lilacs, apricots, or soft pinks and mint,' Bramich says.

'This is a great look for Oaks day and can be worn back with neutrals, soft metallic hued accessories or sorbet shades.

'You can also bejewel your head with a glamorous jewelled or beaded headband.

'With inspiration from the 40's era, a jewelled headband is a subtle but enchanting way to update your look whether at the races or for that special occasion.

'And if you want to make a statement this season, do it in black and white - with a pop of colour! You'll be the envy of all your friends when they see you wearing this fresh update on the black and white trend.'
