Ph FASHION WEEK S/S '14 | Day 2: Handsome is as David Gandy does at the ...

There's no denying that is one of the most beautiful men in the world; such a claim supported by international magazines like Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and Details through the man's editorial appearances and driven home to a point with his 'Light Blue' campaign for Dolce & Gabbana.

Still, one wonders if the 6'3 Supermodel from Essex also deserves his 'Most Influential Man in Britain' given by British GQ magazine early this year. The title, meant for successful and made individuals who have had an impact on society through their accomplishments, is not often used for a supermodel.

At the closing of the 2012 London Olympics, Gandy walked the ramp along with eight other supermodels like Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell. his appearance was talked about especially since he was the only male model to be part of such a stellar group.

Determined to strengthen its position as a leading apparel brand, SM Men's Fashion officially launched Gandy as their newest endorser at the bi-annual Philippine Fashion Week show. The runway stage was spherical in shape with an orchestra in the middle and showcased both SM Men's Holiday'13 and Spring-Summer '14 collections.

Denim on denim ensembles paired with contrasting prints opened the show lead by Fashion Week staples, Daniel Matsunaga, Fabio Ide and Brent Javier. It was shortly followed by a collection of loud geometric prints in neon colors.

Checkered polos make a trend comeback by being tied at the waist, reminiscent of the 80's street style as seen in both males and females as of late. The Holiday selection played on earth colors-browns and neutrals but paired with a pop of striking red and green scarves made for chilly season nights.

Luxe Sportswear was showcased using monochromatic color-blocking on hoodies, track pants and varsity jackets. The selection is comfortable yet fashionable and is a sure hit for no-fuss guys who want to be stylish without having to try so hard.

Fashion, they say, is not meant to be taken seriously. The bold and the daring can play up any outfit and make it their own. While it was interesting that the Formal Wear segment presented straight cut ankle-length pants instead of the usual-adding emphasis on the formal shoes the models were wearing-it comes with risks as it can be stylish when done right and paired with pristine dress shoes but can take the opposite direction if sloppily executed.

The SM Men's fashion show was a visual feast not only because of the clothes they showcased but because of the elaborate production and mounting of the revolving stage. Halfway through the show they revealed another set-up doused up with lights and with good looking models striding out in Spring/Summer clothes; making their stage entrance one of the more memorable ones in the whole of Philippine Fashion Week history.

The S/S 2014 collection played on cloud prints and white ensembles; a refreshing way of beating the season's heat while leaving a lasting impression. Less is more next Summer with a whole range of sleeveless tank tops for men but definitely nothing short of colors.

Time seemed to have stopped temporarily and everyone turned to Gandy as he finally took his much awaited walk: wearing a tux perfect on his body paired with a crisp white dress shirt. His one-time appearance on the runway was made worth it when he paused in the middle of the stage and flashed his dazzling smile for the fans to swoon over and left all of us wanting for more.

Those who are extremely persistent in getting a hold of him can turn on their lucky charms as Gandy put himself available for auction in support of the Battersea's Dogs and Cats Home. He is taking part in the online auction which goes live on October 31.

And what do you know, besides the philanthropist title on his many hats, he is also a writer for Vogue.com and a car-reviewer for GQ.com. In an article for The Telegraph, Gandy writes on the definition of a gentleman, 'A gentleman will never play it safe, will never settle for second best, and will never be afraid to try to achieve something because he is scared of failure.'

Gandy at best embodies the 'Most Influential Man in Britain' title bestowed on him because he uses his status as the world's only international male supermodel to promote advocacies, to share positive messages of confidence and encouragement to society and he is determined to strive to be the best in all of his pursuits. His beautiful physique may be the first thing people notice about him but it certainly won't be the only thing they will remember him by.

SM Men's Fashion is staying true to their promise to be at the forefront of the latest styles and trends and they could not have picked anyone better to represent their brand. Much ado about David Gandy from Great Britain is well-deserved for he is, all these things and more-and nothing short of great.
