Toronto Fashion Week: Beaufille Spring 2014

Show:BeaufilleDesigners:Sisters Parris and Chloe GordonFrom: TorontoThe Look: Aftermath of 90s sun-soaked, California hippie pool partyStandout Piece: Long black shoestring-strap dress with low back and side slit, upper arm bracelet with chains that ran down past the elbows.Beauty Story: Hair was wet look and rigid, slicked right back then falling in messy waves. Eyes were neutral, but got progressively darker brown as the show went on, lips were coral and nails neutral. Dewy glowing cheeks.

Impressions:The energy was up when the lights went down for the Beaufille spring 2014 collection and the live band that started playing California rock kept the momentum going. Clad in bold plastic sunglasses and with slicked back hair, the models had something pool-party aftermath about them. Beaufille stayed true to their mandate of contrasting masculine and feminine elements, with softer tunics over more structured shorts and skorts, gorgeous fluid kimono-inspired jackets and tailored short shifts with sleeves. The 90s influence remained clear throughout-the one-shoulder strap, the faded floral slip dresses and the Dr Martens that were sported with every look - but the structured separates contrasted with a modern feel. Colours were mainly black and white, punctuated with faded florals.

Spring 2014 Trend Predication: Layering tailored pieces over dresses and skirts, contrasting masculine and feminine. 90s remain strong.
