How Vans Is Venturing Beyond Sneakers Into a Fashion Clothing Line We're ...

During fashion month, slip-on sneakers were unavoidably everywhere on the streets. Ask any editor who usually runs around town all day wearing heels—sneaks are a welcome retreat from the usual pointed-toe pump. Cue Vans, the skate brand behind the iconoclastic silhouette. Building on its footwear momentum with the fashion set, the label has just re-launched its range of clothing and accessories for spring 2014.

Last night in New York, Vans unveiled the collection at its first presentation, along with the new ad campaign video, 'Performance,' by creative director Chrissie Miller (of Sophomore fame) and stylist Heidi Bivens, featuring It girls like Langley Fox Hemingway, Annabelle Dexter Jones, and Coco Young. The look of the new collection is still synonymous with the label's laid-back, cool aesthetic, but there's a bit more fashion flare than in years past. Highlights included the denim-on-denim cutoffs paired with the printed chambray shirt, zigzag-printed, black-and-white summer dresses, and leopard, flat-brim hats. Not to worry: The classic, checkered slip-on kicks were in the mix, too. And, at $35 a pair, we like the price a lot better than the Céline plaid versions.
